Tasting notes
The 2008 Barolo Ravera bursts onto the palate with dark red fruit, cherries, mint, licorice and spices. It shows gorgeous fleshiness and depth for the year, with layers of dark red fruit that flow effortlessly to the long, resonant finish. The aromas and flavors meld together seamlessly as the wine sits in the glass. Knock-out floral aromatics linger on the impeccable, elegant finish. In 2008 the estate did not make their top Barolo, the Vigna Elena, because of hail in that site. The best fruit from that site went into the straight Ravera bottling. This is a dazzling effort from Cogno. 94+/100 (04.2012) - robertparker.com
